With school starting in the next few weeks and summer winding down it’s time to start planning some staycations, to keep from getting cabin fever. Staycations are vacations that are close enough to home that they can happen on a two day weekend yet far enough that it feels like you’re away from it all. Our favorite staycation is glamping (glamorous camping) at Miracle Hot Springs.

Hidden along the outskirts of Hagerman, Idaho this geothermal oasis is a short drive from anywhere in southern Idaho yet it’s location is remote enough that there is no cell phone service. Miracle Hot Springs is known for its mineral rich, naturally hot water that is filtered into four public soaking pools of different temperatures, 15 private soaking pools and 6 private VIP pools. New renovations to Miracle brought private changing rooms, showers, lockers and an indoor waiting area. I love sitting in the hot mineral water in the winter, watching the snow falling through the steam.

Most people only visit Miracle Hot Springs in the evening to enjoy a nice relaxing dip to finish their day which may lead them to overlook one of the most interesting features just a few hundred feet from the pools, the camping domes. Five rounded domes sit nearby in a variety of sizes. These canvas covered domes have water heated floors and space heaters for the winter and A/C units and ceiling fans for the summer. The two smallest camp domes are furnished with sleeping pads and visitors must bring their own bedding. The queen and king domes are fitted with real beds, a dresser and seating area. The biggest geodesic structure is the event dome which is a little over a thousand square feet and is perfect for family reunions, showers and any other kind of get-together.

If you are wanting a bit more rustic camping, Miracle Hot Springs offers RV sites and tent spots. Don’t forget to go visit Lola, the friendly alligator who lives on-site in a tropical enclosure. With real beds, restrooms, showers and soaking pools it’s easy to see how this glamping experience could become your new favorite.
